Mobile internet users
Mar 24, 2007
According to a recent research by Media-Screen only 5 percent of US broadband users are using mobile internet while 95 percent
prefer their PC and approximately 40 percent are using their laptops.
We can distinguish three categories of mobile internet users:
- 58% (those who posses some internet mobile devices but are not using them)
- 36% (those who don't have internet mobile devices enabled)
- 5% (those who are accessing the internet regularly using their mobile devices)
Some of the main barriers of using mobile internet devices are the extra fees and quality of internet connection. It is very
difficult to deliver quality content to the final user or customer to satisfy his needs as Josh Krandall, managing director at
Media-Screen told recently.
Users are using much less activities on their mobile devices compared to desktop or laptop users. There are still technological
and pricing obstacles to reach a wider spread of mobile internet users.
Here are the most common mobile internet activities:
- 47% - checking their emails
- 27% - playing online games
- 15% - reading the news
- 11% - watching TV
More than 50 percent of the respondents said that mobile internet does not fit with their lifestyle. In addition to this Mr
Krandall said, if you are not young or not on-the-go businessman than mobile internet is not for you.
