'hits'

It is a request for a file (HTML page, image, other files) placed on a webserver.

'hidden text'

A hidden text (keyword) is invisible to the human eyes and visible to search engine spiders. It is usually done by adding the same color of the text as the background. This technique now is most of the time spotted very easily by the search engines and considered as 'spamdexing'.

Home page or index page is the very first page you can see whenever visiting a website. Sometimes the homepage is a nice flash or design with the main navigations (ex: languages) on it.

'.htaccess' file

It is a clickable content (ex. text, image) on a webpage which can lead to another website or other internal page on the same website. Spiders are following hyperlinks to read the content of pages.
